Acoustics

At DGMR, we believe that sound acoustic advice is more than just converting requirements into solutions. We turn acoustic characteristics, often subjective, into what our customers see as objective, comprehensible user-friendly characteristics. We push back the frontiers between what the customer wants and what the customer needs. Our acoustic know-how almost always forms part of our building physics consultancy work.

Auditorium acoustics
Professional halls need good acoustics. Concert halls, theatres, auditoria and lecture halls; we provide each with advice on the subject. In that respect, DGMR's ears and eyes are open to hall design, lines of sight, stage/podium height, noise absorbent/diffusing areas, noise produced by the electrics/plumbing and reflection patterns. Thanks to our partnerships, we can also give advice on theatre technology and electro-acoustics.

Advice on room acoustics is often summed up as determination of reverberation time. The acoustic experience of, for example, offices is also measured in terms of the relationship between intelligibility of speech and the level of background noise in a room. We are aware of this sensitive level of communication between colleagues and hence recommend not only specific measures; we also concern ourselves with the nuts and bolts of getting our recommendations into the design phase and building phase.

Façade noise reduction
In the case of new construction on noise-sensitive sites, we do acoustic structural research into façade noise reduction and the material needed to implement the results. Even in existing situations and where extra insulation needs to be achieved, we can supervise the whole process. We will see to the technical specifications, contact contractors and check the measures implemented prior to completion of the deal.

Sound insulation between specific rooms
In residential buildings, where building use changes, or in the event of refurbishment, there are strict requirements on noise insulation. Reason enough to check what sort of construction the walls and floors need to have and, indeed, what is possible at the earliest possible opportunity. Inspection of noise insulation properties is performed by taking into account detailed principles using the connecting details and special points for attention in the implementation.
