Engineering
Moving from architectural drawing to finished façade can often be a complex process. Converting architecture into a choice of building materials and details, the tender process with the contractor or façade builder, the inspection of the technical drawings and the supervision of the work on site each form part of the process. DGMR can assist in each phase of this process of façade building. How we go about varies from job to job: from investigating and assessing to full detailing, drawing up the technical specifications or the technical drawing.
When building the façade, there are many points to take into account. In terms of building physics, there is daylight, thermal insulation, shading, sound proofing and air/water proofing to consider. In terms of fire safety, there is fire spread, and fire resitance to consider. In terms of construction, there is strength (static and dynamic load), structural safety and stability. In terms of safety and security, this means prevention of injury through crack/bullet/explosion proofing. By working closely with other divisions, we can soon come up with the appropriate solution. Naturally, DGMR has extensive knowledge in the field of building materials. Glass, aluminium, natural stone, bricks and concrete are frequently used building materials. For specific aspects, such as anchoring of natural stone cladding or the thickness of glass we do the structural engineering. We have knowledge of a range of construction methods, from window frames to pre-fab structural sections; from aluminium to concrete. Each building method has its own specific possibilities and difficulties.
