The modern citizen is constantly on the move: by road, by rail, on the water or through the air. Unfortunately, the nuisance caused by this constant travelling is just as constant. Annoyance caused by continual noise and vibration pollution, the production of exhaust gases and external safety risks. But how do we limit the nuisance and the risks? At DGMR we are involved daily in answering this question.
First research, then advise
Acoustic research and research into air and safety are part of the core activities of our traffic specialists; research carried out in terms of the execution and construction of new infrastructure but also in the building of new homes and other projects. Advice is then issued about the possibilities for limiting any nuisance. At DGMR we are constantly seeking out the right balance between costs and results. Urban development, natural landscape and safety factors play a role in this.
More knowledge, less annoyance
One of the ways to restrict noise pollution to acceptable levels is the application of low noise road surfaces. We also have extensive knowledge in this field. In collaboration with others, we have developed innovative road surfaces which achieve substantial noise reduction. We also have access to a special measuring trailer, developed for carrying out readings on all types of road. We have produced calculation models for noise barriers for complex designs, so that the barriers can be introduced into the environment in an aesthetic way. In this way, DGMR demonstrates once again that more can be done. More pleasant living and working, with less annoyance.
