Low noise road surfaces and railways
In order to reduce the noise level on our roads and rails, DGMR looks first to measures close to the source. For example, in order to reduce the noise generated by traffic, one effective solution could be a low-noise road surface. Similar road surfaces are currently being developed and DGMR is using a range of measuring methods to achieve the best possible result, in cooperation with others. The noise level generated by rolling stock can be limited by reducing the roughness; maintenance is essential to this. In addition, the profile of the rails can be improved and noise-damping solutions can be added to a section of rail. DGMR can advise you on this.
